| HRH Prince Mansour Bin Mutaib Inaugurates the Saudi Arabia Pavilion |

HRH Prince Mansour Bin Mutaib Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Municipalities and Rural Affairs, officially opened the Saudi Arabian Pavilion on Saturday the first of May. Several high ranking personalities from the participating Gulf countries attended the event including H.E. Abdullah Al Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Qatar, H.E. Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Culture and Information of Bahrain, H.E. Yahya Al Zaid, Saudi Ambassador in China and Mr. Vicente Gonzales Loscertales, Secretary General of BIE (Bureau International des Expositions).
Following the inauguration ceremony, His Royal Highness Prince Mansour accompanied his distinguished guests on a tour around the Saudi Pavilion, where they were able to enjoy its unique features, especially the Giant Emerged Screen (1,600 m2) that took them on a virtual tour to discover the Kingdom’s treasures and important landmarks. The guests were also able to explore the rich diversity in the Saudi culture and tradition, as well as the progress in the fields of industry, education and urban development the Kingdom witnesses these days.
HRH then conducted a press conference that was attended by a large number of journalists and reporters of news and press agencies with welcoming words on behalf of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Saudi nation, affirming the friendship bonds that tie both countries which were confirmed by Chinese President Hu Jin Tao’s immediate visit to the Saudi Pavilion following his visit to the Chinese one. HRH answered many questions and emphasized again that the Saudi Participation in Expo 2010 is to enhance the cultural exchange with China and the rest of the world.
Once the press conference was concluded, His Royal Highness Prince Mansour Bin Met’eb Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and a number of Saudi officials visited the Chinese Pavilion where they toured the important parts of the Pavilion.
The Saudi Pavilion is expected to welcome around twenty thousand visitors a day during the next six months. Since the soft opening ceremony, the Saudi Pavilion has welcomed thousands of visitors who had to wait for more than three hours to enter the Pavilion and enjoy the extraordinary journey. |
