Ms. Helen Clark, Administrator of the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and former Prime Minister of New Zealand paid a visit to the Saudi pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai today. She was received upon arrival by Dr. Abdulrahman Al Shaikh, Commissioner General of the Saudi pavilion who invited his honorable guest to enjoy some Arabic coffee and dates in the VIP lounge.

 

Dr. Al Shaikh introduced the “Moon Boat” to Ms. Clark and described how popular this pavilion has became since the beginning of the Expo, attracting more and more visitors and reaching on the same day the 4 millionth visitor milestone.

 

Later on, the UNDP Administrator was accompanied by Mr. Abdulhamid Hasan, the pavilion Director, on a tour of the pavilion, including the “Arabian Oasis” overlooking the Expo park and the Huangpu River and the giant immersive screen, which impressed her deeply.

 

After the visit, Ms. Helen Clark expressed her admiration in the VIP guest book, writing “congratulations on a wonderful pavilion”, was presented with a special gift from the Saudi pavilion and thanked the pavilion’s staff for this unforgettable journey.

Saudi Pavilion Praised for Success at the Largest World Expo in History

Chinese President Hu Jintao visited the Saudi pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 on Thursday.

September 23rd marks the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by its founder King Abdulaziz Al Saud and the beginning of the journey of development and growth of the land of the Two Holy Mosques, Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah AL-Munawwarah.

Saudi Arabia is displaying the Tent City of Mina in the Urban Best Practices Area for the first time as an innovative and life-improving urban experiment.
